ERNO LASZLO Acne Treatment System

ERNO LASZLO Acne Treatment System

You’ve probably heard of Hungarian-born, American dermatologist, Erno Laszlo.  He’s famous (although he died in the 70’s) for his high-end skin care products that have been sold around the world since 1966, but did you also know that he developed a line of products for the treatment of acne?  The ERNO LASZLO Acne Treatment System isn’t sold as a kit.  It’s actually four separate products; wash, toner, emergency cream, and mask.  So let’s break each of them down, dissect the ingredients and see if they’re worth the money – they’re a little pricy.

Beta Wash

A 6.8 oz bottle of ERNO LASZLO’s Beta Wash sells for $40.   You only need a very small amount though which you dilute with water, so it should last a while.  It’s oil free and contains algae extracts to detoxify the skin, chamomile to calm, and rosemary, sage, and myrrh which are all botanical healers.

Total Blemish Treatment

The ERNO LASZLO Total Blemish Treatment is a 2 oz bottle of liquid that sells for $90 and is applied to clean skin 1-3 times a day.  It contains some plant extracts, but the number one ingredient is salicylic acid, so reduce the number of times a day you use it if it causes dryness or irritation.

Targeted Blemish Treatment

This .5 oz tube sells for $35 and is reserved for those “special emergencies”.  It’s applied to existing blemishes (be sure your skin is clean) 1-3 times a day.  It contains rosemary, sage, eucalyptus, and peppermint, but it also contains salicylic acid so you might run into the same dryness and irritation that can be caused by the Total Blemish Treatment.

Beta Mask

ERNO LASZLO’s Beta Mask comes in a 3.3 oz size and will cost you $50.  That’s a pretty small bottle, but unlike most masks it is only applied to the affected areas (again, make sure your skin is clean).  Wash off after 10-15 minutes.  The Beta Mask contains 1% Salicylic Acid.

The ERNO LASZLO Acne Treatment System is recommended for teenagers and adults.  It’s approved for sensitive skin, but keep a watchful eye open for any dryness or irritation.  Salicylic Acid comes from the bark of the willow tree, but it’s still a pretty harsh chemical.  ERNO LASZLO products can be purchased at high-end retail stores such as Nordstrom, and Saks Fifth Avenue, as well as online.  Free shipping is available on orders totaling $175 or more if purchasing from the ERNO LASZLO official site.  Returns are accepted if received in original packaging, and within 90 days of purchase.  ERNO LASZLO products are not tested on animals.

ClickR Total Acne Face Kit

ClickR Total Acne Face Kit

When it comes to the treatment of acne, there’s a new player in town.  ClickR.  70% of users saw improvement in their skin in 24 hours with the ClickR Total Acne Face Kit, a four-product acne treatment program that boasts “vegan” products.  What exactly does that translate into?  Simply put, it means that ClickR products are not tested on animals nor do they contain any animal byproducts.  The ClickR Total Acne Face Kit contains many plant derived and organic ingredients; punica grantum (pomegranate) extract, arnica montana flower extract, grape seed extract, oat kernel extract, witch hazel, aloe, cucumber extract, and jojoba seed oil to name a few.  It contains no benzoyl peroxide which is a huge plus, but it does contain plenty of “oxides”; titanium dioxide, aluminum hydroxide, and hydrogen peroxide.  It also contains alcohol, and the vague term “fragrance” is listed among the ingredients as well.  So what exactly is the ClickR Total Acne Face Kit?

Step One: Daily Dermabrasion Wash

This wash is used twice a day to gently remove dead skin cells, dirt and oils from your skin and prep it for the detoxifying and healing steps that follow.

Step Two: Hot Face Mask

The mask should only be used 2-4 times a week.  It unclogs and clears pores, and is made primarily from bentonite (a volcanic clay).

Step Three: Vanishing Mist

This mist is sprayed onto the face after using the wash and/or the mask.

Step Four: Acne Face Treatment

The final step in the ClickR Total Acne Face Kit is a lotion that is applied daily to the face and neck.  It prevents future breakouts, and softens skin.

The ClickR Total Acne Face Kit is sold for the management of acne to anyone looking for younger skin, but it’s definitely geared towards teens.  Take a look at the packaging; black and hot pink!  However, if you’re over 18 it’s still worth a shot with 70% of the users seeing improvement in their skin within 24 hours.  24 hours!

The four-product ClickR Total Acne Fact Kit is a $125 value, but you can easily find it for half that amount.

Clear Skin MAX

Clear Skin MAX

Clear Skin Max is a six step acne treatment regime that promises results within 180 days (6 months) or you get your money back, guaranteed!  If you’ve struggled with acne for years and tried everything known to man as a remedy, you might be asking yourself, “What makes Clear Skin MAX different from all the others?” The answer…Clear Skin MAX takes your battle with acne to a whole new level – not only fighting it on the surface, but from the inside as well.  The best part is that it’s derived from nature, no harmful chemicals.

On the Outside

The First of the Six Steps is a face wash that is used twice daily.  It contains ingredients such as tea tree oil for eliminating bacteria, fungi, etc., and chamomile which promotes healing.  It also contains bladder wrack extract which, although it doesn’t really sound like something you’d like touching your skin, is a proven anti-aging weapon.  And don’t worry; it’s taken from a harmless little ocean plant, also known as seaweed — not nearly as bad as it sounds, right?

Step Two…moisture.  Moisture is essential to your skins wellbeing, and a priceless tool in your arsenal.  Apply the Vitamin B3 packed moisturizer after washing, and again after step three.  What is step three? Step Three is a mask used 1-2 times a week that is left on the skin for 20 minutes.  It stimulates new cell growth, and improves skin’s texture.

By this point in your attack, your pores are open and clean, yet vulnerable.  You’re a sitting duck.  This is where Step Four comes in – an Allantoin and witch hazel astringent that closes your clean pores before any dirt or debris finds its way in.

Step Five is your secret weapon, your “sniper”, and it’s reserved for emergencies only.  This cream is applied to individual blemishes 2-3 times a day.  Objective: total elimination.  Show no mercy.

From Within

The Final Step in the Clear Skin MAX program is Tava Tea.  You guessed it, you drink it!  It contains wild chrysanthemum, a natural anti-inflammatory, Licorice Root for battling bacteria, and cooling peppermint, to get rid of the “red”.

Many Clear Skin MAX customers see improvement within a matter of days, and clear skin in just a few weeks.  For some it has been nothing short of life-changing.  And remember, if you aren’t completely satisfied you can return Clear Skin MAX with the money back guarantee.  Just a few things to keep in mind; product needs to be in its original condition to return and consumer is responsible for return shipping charges ($5 – $7.50).

Clear Skin MAX is reasonably priced at approximately $12 for each of the six items in a one month supply.  Free shipping and money saving kits are available.

Acnexia

What is Acnexia?

Acnexia is a one step acne cleanser developed over several years by the world’s best dermatologists. It is guaranteed to clear up acne naturally in as little as seven days as well as promote an overall healthy complexion.

How Does Acnexia Work?

Acnexia uses a blend of natural substances to effectively treat acne the same way a prescription or harsh astringent would without the side effects or dry irritated skin. It is difficult to find a good product out there that is able to properly treat acne in a single application without leaving your skin flaky or irritated. There are a number of prescription medications and pills but the potential dangers and side effects make me wary of using them unless I absolutely have to.

The main ingredients in Acnexia are Aloe Vera, White Willow Bark, Tea Tree Oil, DMAE, Green Tea Extract, and Vitamin C. It should come as no surprise that some of these elements are found in Acnexia since many of them are found in almost every type of skin care product on the Market.

Aloe Vera is one of the best and oldest skin treatments in existence. Anyone who has ever had a sunburn no doubt knows how soothing it can be to the skin and its natural ability to restore elasticity and moisture to damaged skin. White willow bark is also a well known skin care ingredient documented to clear away blackheads and reduce the bacteria that cause blemishes.

The other exciting ingredient in Acnexia is Tea Tree Oil. Studies indicate that equal amounts of Tea Tree Oil have the same astringent effect on the surface of the skin as benzoyl peroxide. Benzoyl peroxide is the best known acne treatment and is highly effective at reducing the bacteria that causes acne. The problem with benzyol of course is the harsh nature of the chemical which is prone to cause mild to severe skin irritation. Tea Tree Oil has the same astringent qualities as the benzoyl peroxide without being abrasive to sensitive skin.

Final Word

I can think of no better time to consider using a more natural skin care treatment than right now. With the recent lawsuits over prescription acne treatments and their link to serious health issues, it would be smart to seriously consider a more natural method to treat such a common skin problem. The cost and potential hazards of pharmaceutical grade acne treatments just aren’t worth it when there are a number of products that can deal with acne just as effectively.

When searching for a good product the best thing to do is compare what’s inside. I like Acnexia because it has all the right ingredients to properly treat acne without all the harsh benzoyl peroxide and other alcohols that make my skin dry and flaky. The product is well tested and the results are just about as good as promised. I don’t think there are too many products, especially single treatment products that compare to the quality and value you get with this one.

ClearPores

What is Clearpores?

If you are trying to build a ladder to the moon, may I suggest you use all the different acne treatments stacked end to end. There are so many I start to loose track of where one starts and another ends. That’s probably why you are here looking for a good summary of this product to see if you should buy Clearpores or some other acne treatment. First off, clear pores is a system of different cleansers, moisturizers, pills, etc. meant to act together to clear up your acne. If you want a good basis for comparison, it’s a lot like Proactiv in that way.

What You Get

The Clearpores system starts with the most logical option of a topical cleanser. The cleanser is designed to deep clean the skin, exfoliating and unclogging pores. The cleanser promises to reduce inflammation and kill bacteria.

The next step is the herbal formula that comes in the form a pill to be taken orally. These types of treatments are meant to go to the source of the acne problem, helping give the body what it needs to stop the bacteria and oil from being produced in the first place.

The last step of the treatment is a healing lotion. This is much like most other lotions specially formulated for the face so they don’t clog the pores you just scrubbed clean.

Upside

The cleanser is a good topical cleanser that does leave the skin feeling smoother and cleaner. It doesn’t contain the harsh chemicals, hormones or detergents of some other facial washes. Everything in the package is natural and doesn’t cause any of the outrageous side effects that you would expect with a prescription acne medication. It is relatively inexpensive and can be purchased easily without a prescription at a number of online sources.

Downside

If you have sensitive skin, the cleanser can be a little drying. This is taken care of with the final phase of the system but I don’t understand why you need to buy a product that causes the problem you need the product to fix. The herbal medication is somewhat of a mystery and there is little evidence that it does any more good than a multivitamin would for half the cost.

Final Thought

Like I said when I started this review, it’s hard to see where one treatment ends and another begins. There are so many multi-stage treatments out there it’s next to impossible to differentiate one from another. There have been a number of documented cases of Clearpores working very well and about the same amount of people say that it didn’t do anything at all. From my experience, this product seems to be more of an overall hygiene product than a true acne treatment. Proper facial scrubbing mixed with good heath and proper moisturizing is bound to have some effect on acne. You can get that with Clearpores but you could also get the same results on your own.

What Causes Adult Acne?

Most often adult acne is related to hormones. Women are more likely to suffer from adult acne than men. Even women who have never suffered from acne before can start seeing it in the twenties and thirties. This is mainly because of hormone fluctuations and other factors affecting hormone production, such as birth control pills, pregnancy, breast feeding, menopause, and hormonal therapy. Cosmetics and skin care products can also add to the problem.

Premenstrual acne, which occurs in flares usually eight to ten days before a woman’s period, is related to changes in hormones. This hormone change causes sebum production and inflammation within the follicles. This inflammation leads to the obstruction of the follicle, creating anaerobic areas for acne bacteria live. This is called inflammatory acne. Inflammatory acne lesions are red, sore bumps without white centers.  This  hormonal acne most often affects the chin area, but can be found on other areas of the body and face as well.

Inflammatory acne can also be caused by external topical substances, including some makeup and skin care products. Products like these that cause acne are commonly referredto as comedogenic or acnegenic. These products contribute to cell build up, resulting in acne.

Increased Stress

Stress is certainly a factor in acne. You will most likely experience acne breakouts at stressful times in your life. Stress can actually trigger hormone fluctuations which causes sebum overproduction and inflammation, resulting in acne flare ups. To help prevent “stress acne” make sure you are doing things to keep stress levels down, like yoga or running. Also, making sure to get enough sleep is very important. Your skin is able to heal itself best during sleep. People who get little sleep will be more stressed and cause their skin to not be able to heal itself as well.

Healing Adult Acne

All adult acne can be drastically improved by using good acne treatments. If you suffer from adult acne you need to be very consistent in washing your face, because this helps to exfoliate sebum and dead skin cells that are plugging inflamed follicles. Its what your doing daily with a good acne face wash that’s going to make all the difference in your adult acne. Consistent face washing also helps to prevent premature aging. Its a win-win! Below are acne face washes that have taken care of my adult acne.
